About the standard
ISO 9001 is the world's most widely adopted management system standard, first published in 1987 and now held by over a million certified organizations. It sets generic, structured requirements for establishing, operating, and continually improving a quality management system (QMS), so that any organization — regardless of size, sector, or product — can consistently meet and exceed customer expectations. Built on the ISO High-Level Structure, it also integrates cleanly with other management system standards such as ISO 14001, ISO/IEC 27001, and ISO 22301.
Levels available
- Foundation — For those who want to learn the basics of implementing a quality management system and its processes, gaining a best-practice mindset around ISO 9001's core requirements.
- Lead Implementer — For those responsible for building and managing a QMS in their organization, applying best practices that support compliance with ISO 9001.
- Lead Auditor — For those responsible for auditing and monitoring a QMS, qualifying them to assess conformity and conduct third-party certification audits.
Who should attend
Quality managers, consultants, and professionals tasked with implementing, managing, or auditing a quality management system will benefit most. It also suits anyone looking to move into a QMS implementation or audit role, since many organizations struggle to move a QMS beyond documentation into real, sustained improvement — a gap these courses are designed to close.
Learning objectives
- Understand the seven quality management principles underpinning ISO 9001 and the requirements of clauses 4–10.
- Learn to establish, implement, and maintain a QMS tailored to an organization's context and objectives.
- Gain the competence to identify nonconformities and drive continual improvement.
- Develop the skills to audit a QMS against ISO 9001 requirements (Lead Auditor).
- Build the ability to guide an implementation team and support certification readiness (Lead Implementer).
Why attend
Certification distinguishes you from other quality professionals and demonstrates internationally recognized competence as an implementer, auditor, or QMS team member. It opens career opportunities across virtually every industry, since ISO 9001 is the most recognized quality standard worldwide, and PECB's Lead Auditor and Lead Implementer certificates are UKAS-accredited for added credibility.
