About the standard
The ISA/IEC 62443 series is the only globally consensus-driven, end-to-end standards suite dedicated to securing Industrial Automation and Control Systems (IACS). Jointly developed by the International Society of Automation (ISA) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), it establishes a unified vocabulary, risk model, and control framework spanning manufacturing, energy, building automation, medical devices, and transportation. The series addresses the full security lifecycle — from risk assessment and secure design through integration, operation, and ongoing maintenance — recognizing that IACS resilience depends on technology, personnel competence, and organizational process together.
Levels available
- Lead Implementer — A single, comprehensive course for practitioners who need to plan, implement, and manage industrial cybersecurity programs based on the full ISA/IEC 62443 series.
Who should attend
This course is for OT and industrial control system engineers, plant security managers, and IT professionals bridging IT and OT security. It's also relevant to asset owners, system integrators, and component suppliers who need to align their processes with ISA/IEC 62443's requirements.
Learning objectives
- Understand the structure, terminology, and core concepts of the ISA/IEC 62443 framework
- Learn to conduct IACS risk assessments, including segmenting systems and setting target security levels
- Gain the competence to design and implement secure-by-design systems and components
- Understand how to manage patches, updates, and lifecycle practices to maintain IACS security
- Learn to adapt IT security practices to OT contexts while preserving safety and availability
Why attend
Industrial automation and control systems are essential to modern industry, and disruptions to critical infrastructure — from chemical plants to power generation — can carry serious operational and safety consequences. This training builds recognized, cross-disciplinary expertise in industrial cybersecurity, positions professionals to communicate effectively across owners, integrators, and suppliers, and validates that expertise with an internationally recognized credential.
